StoryMaker
A long-form writing tool where the AI edits your prose against a story bible you keep.

What it does
- Projects hold chapters you write in a full editor. Sidebar tabs switch between Chapters, Outline, Bible and Reports; chapters can be dragged to reorder, renamed, summarised ("Generate Summary") and deleted.
- Select a passage and the operations row offers Continue, Add Description, Punch Up Humor, Tighten Prose, Improve Dialogue and Critique. Select nothing and it swaps to the chapter-level three: Beat Check, Pacing, Foreshadowing. You can also type a free-form request into an "Ask the AI anything..." box (Cmd-Return sends it).
- A persona picker — Story Architect, Line Editor, Voice Coach, Comedy Punch-Up, Continuity Editor, Beta Reader, Copy Editor — changes how every one of those operations is approached.
- Results arrive as a word-level diff with Removed and Added marked. You can Accept it, Reject it, keep or reject individual paragraphs, hand-edit the final text, pick between alternatives with "Use This", or write feedback and click "Run Refine Loop". An "Iterative Loop" toggle runs up to 5 evaluate/revise passes and shows the model's own score out of 100 for each pass.
- A Story Bible holds characters (aliases, voice notes, goals, secrets, archetype, personality, relationships), locations, world rules, a glossary and a style guide. "Extract from Chapters" proposes new entries found in what you have written and you approve them with "Add All to Bible". The assembled bible is injected into the prompt for the writing operations under a STORY BIBLE CONTEXT heading, within a token budget.
- Project-level "Continuity Scan" and "Thread Tracker" produce reports listing issues and unresolved plot threads with quoted evidence, each markable Mark Resolved, Dismiss or Reopen.
- Supporting bits: a stats panel (words, reading time, paragraphs, average sentence length, dialogue ratio) computed locally with no AI call, per-chapter content snapshots with a Revert button, project-wide search on Shift-Cmd-F, an operation log, and export to Markdown or plain text.
How to try it
- Open StoryMaker, click the "New Project" (+) button in the toolbar, type a title and click "Create".
- Click "Add Chapter" in the sidebar and write or paste a few paragraphs.
- Select a sentence, click "Tighten Prose" in the right-hand panel, then review the diff and click "Accept".
- Switch the sidebar to "Bible", click "Extract from Chapters", then "Start Extraction" and "Add All to Bible".
Works with
- The iOS mChatAI app — StoryMaker exists there and the projects sync through the same CloudKit store
- The shared applet provider picker (AppletProviderMenu), so operations run on whichever model provider you have configured
